My cat ate my trout fish. Should I be worried? Is eating fish safe?

It could be the fish has upset Voight's stomach. If he's otherwise acting normally now, I'd just monitor him. I'd seek medical attention if he starts vomiting again, has a loss of appetite, becomes lethargic, and/or his gums turn pale or white. I hope this helps!

His gums don't look tremendously pale, but the lethargy and discomfort you describe is concerning, and yes, I would take him in. It's hard to say whether the bones could have caused a complete GI blockage, but if he's not defecating at all (or urinating???) then that is a potential concern. Even a serious case of gastroenteritis secondary to eating fish and bones is extremely uncomfortable, and warrants treatment. I would take him in ASAP.

The guts are usually not bad, but can possibly contain poisons or certain parasites that can be dangerous. Usually they are fine though and very nutritious. Fish bones can be quite dangerous, because they can get stuck in the throat, stomach or intestine and cause life-threatening problems. For this reason, I recommend avoiding feeding fish bones. That is a concerning clinical condition and a check up would absolutely needed as soon as possible at your local veterinary clinic. The spine fish should be ideally removed under sedation or general anesthetic.

Probably. The whole mouse is technically edible for cats. A lot of hair or bones could cause an obstruction in a kitten, so I would monitor Holly for decreased appetite or vomiting. If this occurs, have her examined by a vet.

It is likely Steve did not ingest a toxic dose. Monitor for lethargy, pale gums, difficulty breathing or exercise intolerance for the next 24-72 hours. You may see some minor stomach upset which, in the absence of other symptoms, can be managed with a short fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. If he develops any of the other symptoms, have him seem by your veterinarian.
