My cat ate some of my miso soup. Is it safe for him? What to do?

Hello. I would not be concerned as long as the beans did not contain a significant amount of chopped/powdered onion or garlic. Onions & garlic can cause some problems in the blood & symptoms may not show for several days. You might see loss of appetite, depression, increased heart & breathing rate, weakness, jaundice ( yellow tinge to the skin & mucous membranes & a red to brown urine can occur. If Casper ate a small amount, like around 1/2 teaspoon, he will be fine. If he ate a substantial amount, you might need to take him to your vet quickly to have him cleaned out. The tuna salad itself should not cause any serious problems at all. The only thing on your list that is potentially toxic to cats is onion - so you think she may have eaten a significant amount of onion, it would be best to take her to the vet to be safe. Otherwise, I would not expect her to have any serious issues. You may see some mild stomach upset for the next day or so, if she isn't used to eating human food like this, but no toxicity concerns.

However, these ingredients are toxic in larger amounts, and it does not seem like you used much of the salsa in your queso. I recommend keeping a close eye on Marvin - he should be seen by a vet if he develops lethargy, vomiting, or inappetance. I hope all is well!

Hi, I think Axel will be fine. The amount of salt on the bean will still not be enough to cause a significant problem and Edamame beans are not toxic to cats if accidentally ingested. There is no benefit in feeding them Edamame beans ongoing but there is no harm in having it as a one off occasion. I hope this makes sense !

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am so sorry you saw this happen. Most likely Mocha will be fine. If the cat was rotten she may or may not vomit or have diarrhea. You can start feeding her a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice for good measure. Feed about 1 cup per 20lbs per day for 3-5 days. If any gastro-intestinal upset happens call your Vet. I hope this helps and I wish you both the best!
