My cat ate expired cat food. Should I worry and what to watch for?

Watch her closely for signs of gastrointestinal upset such as vomiting inappetence, nausea, and/or vomiting. Hello. Is Rowan doing OK, active, bright & alert? If so, you can watch him as the food will very likely be digested. If, however, he is lethargic, miserable, moaning, develops vomiting &/or diarrhea, I would have him seen soon. Of course, I would probably withhold any food & treats for the next 12 hours, & do not let him gulp down water. If he drinks a reasonable amount, fine, but if he wants to just chug down a bowl, replace the water with ice cubes to lick on. Hopefully, he will be back to normal tomorrow. There is a slight risk that the dewormer was contaminated. Monitor for signs of vomiting, diarrhea and lack of appetite. If she displays any of these then a trip to the veterinarian for treatment is recommended. Typically though the main issue is the medicine just isn't effective anymore and you can follow-up with a non-expired dewormer after waiting 24 hrs to make sure she has none of the signs mentioned above. However, she should be ok with conservative treatment through your vet even if she does have an upset stomach.

Time will tell with this one. Since she's eating, drinking, and not lethargic, you certainly don't need to seek emergency care tonight. If tomorrow she still seems out of sorts, or continues to vomit, I would recommend scheduling a vet appointment for exam and x-rays of her abdomen. I am so sorry to hear that both of your cats are having a hard time. To be on the safe side I would not continue to feed this bag of food to your cats. There are a number of potential causes of such clinical signs, including dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, parasite infestation, infection, and ingestion of a toxin or poison. Because you lrnfirat cat has recovered and you have only noticed these signs over the course of a few days, I would continue to monitor Munchkin at home. This is what you can do; Rest Munchkin's gastrointestinal tract by holding back food for a few hours. Then you can continue with a bland and easily digested food of the boiled chicken breast and provide plenty of fresh water. Yes I suspect it's the kitten food causing Buddy to have an upset stomach and vomit. Sudden changes in diet can lead to these symptoms. Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones or skin) in small amounts a couple times a day for a few days, the start slowly adding in his normal diet. If he refuses to eat the bland diet, vomits the bland diet, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, continues to have diarrhea, has blood in his stool, and/or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet immediately. It probably didn't come out whole but rather in pieces, which should be enough to cause an intestinal blockage. I would recommend watching Tommy for a week or so for any signs of discomfort, including decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy. If you see any of these, he should be checked out by a vet ASAP.
