My cat ate elastic bands from trash and threw up. What should I do?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 12 years and 5 months old

Hello Petco Pet Education Center. My cat Oscar got into the rubbish bin a couple of hours ago – we were unaware of this happening. He preceded to throw up in our house from it, and he bought up two elasticised bands (they're different to elastic bands, they have a covering on them of some fibre I can't identify) from the chicken baguettes we had a couple of nights ago. He seemed okay afterwards, however when giving him his dinner we heard what sounded like a crunching sound… (See attached images for the rest)

I am mainly concerned about the elasticised bands, they could cause severe intestinal adhesion and eventually blockage. if the symptoms continue in the next couple days i would recommend taking Oscar to the vet in order to get it checked and have an xray done.

Hello. Without a picture, I can only guess , but your cat probably vomited up some cord like material he swallowed. Cats do like to eat anything that looks like string. It is possible he tried to ingest a small snake, too, but whatever it was, I would just be happy he vomited it up rather than it becoming an obstruction in his intestines that could have required hospitalization. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The vomit looks like foreign material like hay or some sort of basket or string material. I would look around the house or outside and see what she is getting in to. It doesn't look like round worms to me. She is eating something she shouldn't be. I advise locating where she is getting it and removing it before it causes a blockage. Have a great day

My cat ate a hairband, vomited, still distressed. Is it serious?

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Rubber bands can form linear foreign bodies, which are very dangerous to cats. In Majid case, it also could be that a piece of a hairband or rubber has tangled up at the base of the tongue and is causing heaving and distress. If Majid has been vomiting that much, it would be safer if you take him to your local vets today to check him over.

My cat vomited moving worms. Are they dangerous? What should I do?

This looks segmented from the photo so this is a tapeworm. Cats get tapeworms from eating rodents, or fleas when grooming. They can’t be given to humans or other animals since they need to go through an intermediate host. You can purchase tapeworm medication at PetCo. My pet has white worm-like things in vomit and poop. What are they?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is not possible to know this just based on a picture. My best guess is that these could be foreign objects (not worms) or worms. I recommend that you have Mishu evaluated by a veterinarian to work the vomiting as this may be due to worms for instance, or something else like a gastrointestinal foreign body, among other possibilities. What are these tiny black moving specks on my cat's fur?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! From your pictures the black squiggly thing looks like "flea dirt" or flea poop. When you wet it on a white paper towel it melts to blood. They usually don't move though unless you had a flea. I would start a good flea preventative like Comfortis, Bravecto or the Seresto collar.
