My cat has a wound, is lethargic, and drooling. Is it the aspirin?

I wouldn't recommend it, because this drug has a narrow margin of safety in cats and can cause serious harm to kidneys and gastrointestinal tract. Here are my recommendations: 1) Wash/spray the area with just cool, clean water (no soap or other antiseptics) for at least 5 minutes at a time. Do this at least twice a day. 2) Bandage the wound with gauze and apply an over-the-counter antibacterial cream (i.e Neosporin) to the wound. Only apply the cream if the wound can be covered - otherwise, she will likely lick it off. I still recommend she sees a vet sometime soon though. An infected cyst is not common and may actually indicate a tumor or other problem, so you'll definitely want a vet to examine the wound. I hope that helps and Gia gets better soon.

Unfortunately, by law it is illegal for the experts at Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to give the dose information for any drug, including OTC drugs, without seeing the animal in person first. That's because doing so requires a veterinary client patient relationship which cannot be achieved via an internet forum. In addition, the experts cannot say for certain if a specific drug is safe for your cat. Tota has to see a vet for his dental problems, as he may need a dental cleaning, scaling, and polishing to treat his gum and jaw inflammation. The vet can also prescribe him safe medications to take to treat it as well. As for the acetyl salicylic acid, that is aspirin, and it is never recommended to give to cats. It causes internal bleeding and GI ulcers, and is not safe to give to Tota.

Snowball sounds like he has a nasty infected wound from the bite and the bacteria in the wound often makes cats feel very sick. Hot compress the bite area with a warm water/epsom salt solution as often as you can to keep the wound draining and open until you can get to the veterinarian for some antibiotics and pain medication. Not an emergency, but he'll feel much better if you can get the abscess open and draining and get some medication into him from the veterinarian!

Oh poor Peeka! Thanks for entrusting us with her health today. The clinical signs you describe while general and not necessarily specific, they indicate at least 2 things: nausea and possibly pain. There are certain diseases that can cause these signs such as pancreatitis and GI foreign body ingestion. These are only a few possibilities. I highly recommend that you have Peeka evaluated by your veterinarian so that a diagnostic plan can be formulated based on her physical examination. This will likely include bloodwork and abdominal radiographs and/or ultrasound. A treatment plan will follow based on the findings. Make sure that Peeka is drinking water to avoid dehydration. Keeping my fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.

You need to take Lioncio into a vet immediately to have this treated. If the bite is pretty deep, I'd be very concerned about infection. Infections frequently occur from bites. This will also be painful him, and you cannot give him any OTC pain medications. Many of them are toxic to cats, and are fatal if given. He should have veterinary care now. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. I would agree with your veterinarian in that they probably need to sedate or put under anesthesia to be able to better evaluate this region. Then they can treat it accordingly.
