My cat is always in heat. Is this normal or a sign of a health issue?

Cats are seasonally polyestrus which means that they continually go in and out of heat during breeding season. Normally breeding season starts in January, so Midnight is just a little ahead of the curve. Yes, cats constantly go in heat if they are not bred. I recommend spaying her so this doesn’t happen. Constantly going in and out of heat can cause problems. She may develop breast cancer later in life from the constant hormonal swings. She can also get a uterine infection that is very serious and could become life threatening. They usually go into heat every few weeks if they aren't mated so this is definitely possible. If you don't want her to have another heat cycle, you could talk to your vet about inducing ovulation to help her go out of heat but this isn't always recommend depending on the patient, or you could have her spayed if you don't plan to breed her. It does sound and look like Eevee is in heat. Increased vocalization, ‘presenting’ her genitalia /arching her back, and often increased affection are typical signs of estrus/heat in cats which typically first starts after 6 months of age. Each heat cycle lasts around 5-6 days and unspayed cats typically come back into heat every 2-3 weeks. The ASPCA and many shelters offer low cost spay options such as mobile spay/neuter clinics that may be an option. If not, there is nothing that you need to do other than keep her away from intact male cats unless you want kittens in about 2 months’ time! Good luck!

If you don't plan on breeding Bandit, I would recommend spaying Bandit to help eliminate the chances of an unwanted pregnancy as well as uterine and mammary cancers.

Typically cats first go into heat by around six months, but they have their first heat earlier than that. If you don't want to deal with the annoying behaviors that go hand in hand with a cat in heat as well as not wanting kittens, I would have her spayed by her vet as soon as possible.

Yes, it is possible that she is back in heat. Cats are induced ovulators and will often stay in heat until they are bred. I suggest you get her spayed as soon as possible.
