Will my cat adjust to a new apartment and still love me after moving?

Once you get to the new house, it is recommended to restrict her to one room for 2-3 days and it is also recommended to not let her outside the house for two weeks. keep the cat carrier open in the new house as it will be a comfort zone for her during the first 24 hours. try bringing as much from her stuff as you can to the new house (water and food bowls, scratching polls...).

I recommend taking her, cats adapt very well to living in apartments. depending on the country you are going to you will need to find out what vaccinations and other treatments are needed to be able to enter that country with Holly.

Cats tend to be quite adaptable and able to adjust to a new environment well, so I think Blueberry and her kitten will probably do just fine! Of course, every cat is different - some cats love the extra stimulation and socialization that comes with having other cats in the household, while other cats prefer to live on their own and are stressed by having other animals around. You know Blueberry best and might be the best judge as far as how she'll do. If you're worried about how she'll respond, you could always consider this a "trial run", and let your friend know that if your cats don't seem to be adjusting well, you could take them back to find better arrangements. You should anticipate that the first week or two will be an adjustment period and your cats might do a bit more hiding than usual, and initial encounters with the other household cats will probably include some hissing as they figure each other out - but within a few weeks Blueberry and her kitten should be looking more relaxed and comfortable in their new surroundings. A three month vacation sounds lovely! Caboodle won't forget you. When I moved to New Zealand years ago, I couldn't take my cats and dogs with me right away, and they had to come a few months later. They stayed with family, and they did not forget me. I'd bring Caboodle over to your friend's house for visits before you go so he gets used to the new environment. I hope this helps!

This is a great question! First off, thank you for your military service, it is very much appreciated. I know how hard it is to move around and not be able to take your pets with you. With Finn, it is absolutely fine to have someone look after him for a year, then take him back when you return home. I know this from personal experience. When I moved to New Zealand almost a decade ago from the US, I couldn't take my cats (or dogs) with me just yet, and they had to stay with family for about eight months before they could be shipped out. They were fine with staying with my family and then being shipped out to me in New Zealand. Yes moving is stressful, but cats can adapt, and there's no reason why you should give up Finn when you love him so much. Cats are amazing pets, and they are resilient, so I recommend having him stay with someone for a year and getting him when you come home. It gives you another great reason to look forward to coming home :-)

No, I wouldn't take him back, he's bonded to you. It just takes time to adjust to a new home, and if you want, you can get him a companion for your home. Just give him time. When my ex and I broke up, he didn't take the dog who was super bonded to him. She sat by the front door for a long time waiting for him to come home, but she got over it, and was happy and loving life with me. I just gave her extra love and attention during that transition time. It will be ok, trust me. I hope this helps!

Fortunately, cats don't usually seem to mind having a smaller indoor space to live in - they spend the majority of their day resting or sleeping, with bouts of play or other activity in between, so normally they don't need a large living space. But, moving to a new home can definitely be stressful for them, since they are often easily upset by any changes to their environment or daily routine - so I would imagine that your kitty is simply adjusting to the move. You can spend some extra time petting or playing with him for the next couple of weeks to help him settle in. You may also want to try a Feliway pheromone diffuser to help encourage him to relax and feel like your new home is "his".
