Is it safe to give my cat a flea tablet after a spot-on treatment?

I would recommend only using one. I prefer topical over collars since not all collars work. There are plenty of topical medications for cats that help prevent fleas and ticks. Some topical you can apply monthly while others like Bravecto can be applied once every 3 months. Without knowing what type of collar and which fipronil product you are using I wouldn't use them together. I would also wait 48 hours before and after a bath before putting topical medication on. It is labeled for use approximately every 4 weeks. If you need to use it more frequently, check with your veterinarian first. Most fleas live off the pet, necessitating the treatment of the environment as part of management. This includes vacuuming everywhere then disposing of the bag or emptying the canister outdoors immediately afterwards. Wash all bedding in the hottest water allowable. Use a cat safe area treatment to prevent reinfestation. A topical should be used for at least three consecutive months, preferably year round.

I'm so sorry ! Fleas are no fun! You are doing the right thing in treating your house- that is where most of the flea life cycle lives. Zodiac is not one of my favorite meds.... have safety & efficacy concerns. I would use the capstar and get a better topical from your local veterinarian. I would check with them, but you might be able to start the new topical prior to waiting a month. Don't forget that fleas will always have a "hatch out" 3-4 weeks after you treat your house, so don't forget to re-treat. I hope you can Penny comfortable soon! lHello, thank you for using PetCoach. There are are oral flea pills available, however, you also cannot take back an oral pill once you give it...... A 19 year old cat may have an underlying kidney or liver problem (actually this is very likely) that is making her more sensitive to these medications. If she has not been to the vet recently she should be examined and have some blood testing run. If you continue to try things and her organs are not functioning properly you may really put her over the edge. Luckily she recovered after the Seresto Collar incident. I suggest you: 1. Treat the environment (ie: the house) as the fleas will be constantly hatching and continuing the problem. I strongly recommend Knockout Spray ES. ALL animals in the house much be on some type of flea prevention as well or the fleas will continue to thrive. 3. To treat her specifically, without using the traditional flea medications, you can use this waterless mousse - it is only a temporary fix though. No real lasting effects like the topical/oral treatments so depending on the severity of the infestation, you may have to use it every day or every couple days. The product safety specifications indicate that it should not be applied more often than once every 7 days for cats. I would not want to overload her system with more topical product in case she received a full dose and all of the dose was absorbed. In a week, it would be okay to apply another application. You can safely give her another treatment now so that she isn't late on her next dose. I would not recommend repeating treatment with similar ingredients for at least a month, especially in cats which are very sensitive to overdosing.
