What's the best flea medicine for my 5-month-old indoor kittens?

In my opinion, you aren't going to get anything safer than brands like Advantage, Frontline, or Revolution. Cats are exquisitely sensitive to flea medications, and going with a cheaper brand can and does cause toxic reactions due to the reduced quality of the medication. If Dignan had a toxic reaction to a cheap flea medication, then that would cost you a lot more money than paying a bit extra for the high quality flea treatment. It's best to pay for the better brands of flea medication than risk a reaction in your cat. You can get them at your vet's office, and typically a three month supply of Revolution would cost about $60, so you'd be paying $20 a month. I would go to your vet's office to get the treatment. Tapeworms are killed by a medication called praziquantel, which is prescription only. A dewormer containing that can only be gotten at the vet. A great deworming medication is Drontal which kills tapeworms, roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms. OTC dewormers will only kill roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms. Personally I always recommend a deworming medication from the vet, as they are stronger and better than anything you get OTC. Drontal is safe and healthy for kittens. Bambi should get a dewormer now, and another in two weeks. After that she will need to be dewormed monthly until she is six months of age, and then every three months thereafter. It's perfectly safe to give them a deworming medication even if they don't have worms, it prevents them from occurring. I never recommend getting OTC flea and tick medications. Many brands of them, such as Hartz, are terrible products that do not work and can have serious side effects in cats. I personally recommend getting a flea and tick medication from the vet such as Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution. When you make an appointment with the vet to get her vaccines, you can also get the deworming treatment as well as the flea and tick medication. I hope this helps!

A better option is to apply a dose of revolution to Lokee which will last for 30 days and is safe on young kittens. Vaccines should start between 6-8 weeks of age. Lokee will also need to be checked for parasites (coccidia are common) and an Felv/FIV test.
