Hi there. I would recommend getting all pets in the home started on a good quality prescription flea control medication like Nexgard or Bravecto for Ollie, and Revolution or Bravecto for the cats. Once you've done this and had your home treated to get rid of any fleas or flea eggs still remaining in the environment, you should be in good shape as long as you keep everyone current on their flea treatments going forward.

In my opinion, you aren't going to get anything safer than brands like Advantage, Frontline, or Revolution. Cats are exquisitely sensitive to flea medications, and going with a cheaper brand can and does cause toxic reactions due to the reduced quality of the medication. If Dignan had a toxic reaction to a cheap flea medication, then that would cost you a lot more money than paying a bit extra for the high quality flea treatment. It's best to pay for the better brands of flea medication than risk a reaction in your cat. You can get them at your vet's office, and typically a three month supply of Revolution would cost about $60, so you'd be paying $20 a month. I would go to your vet's office to get the treatment. Nexgard or Bravecto are the best choices for dogs, and Revolution or Advantage Multi would be best for the cats. Once that's done, you can treat your house and yard with a premises spray like Knock Off to get rid of the fleas and eggs in the environment. If the problem is severe, you may need to have an exterminator come and treat the environment professionally. Keeping all of your pets on a good quality flea control medication year-around in the future will help to prevent this from being an issue again.

I would not recommend using revolution for 3 more weeks. You can administer an oral capstan. This will kill all live fleas for 24 hours. Also, make sure you are treating the environment to help decrease and manage the life cycle
