My 3-month-old kitten has fleas. What's a safe and effective solution?

Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 8 days old | 13 lbs

My 3month ragdoll kitten has fleas prob. We gave him a bath but didn't wet his face so fellas might have escaped. Vet is reluctant to give medication saying he is small. I have tried flea comb too but in vain. Can anyone suggest me something? Fleas give me worms issue too.

Baths do not help get rid of fleas. she is not too small to get flea treatment, at her age she can have every flea treatment on the market. here is the list of the best flea products on the market.

A medication called capstar would kill the fleas on Baluu and is safe after 4 weeks of age. It will not treat the environment. It would also not prevent additional fleas infestation.
He should be on a monthly flea medication such as advantage which can be started at 8 weeks of age.
Fleas can carry tapeworm. The mode of transmission is if the flea is ingested.
You will need the treat the environment with a flea killer if there are many to prevent continued infestation.

A spot on treatment such Advantage is a good flea treatment, and can be used in kittens as young as 1 month old. They are applied once a month every month. You can get it from your vet clinic. Supermarket flea treatments are not as strong as ones you get from your vet, and will not give the best results.

In my opinion, you aren't going to get anything safer than brands like Advantage, Frontline, or Revolution. Cats are exquisitely sensitive to flea medications, and going with a cheaper brand can and does cause toxic reactions due to the reduced quality of the medication. If Dignan had a toxic reaction to a cheap flea medication, then that would cost you a lot more money than paying a bit extra for the high quality flea treatment. It's best to pay for the better brands of flea medication than risk a reaction in your cat. You can get them at your vet's office, and typically a three month supply of Revolution would cost about $60, so you'd be paying $20 a month. I would go to your vet's office to get the treatment. What's safe for fleas on my nursing cat and her newborn kittens?

Great question! I don't recommend using a flea collar, they aren't very effective and often cause skin problems. You can give her Capstar, which is a one time pill that starts killing fleas in 30 minutes. It is safe to give nursing mothers. Then follow up with Revolution. It's a spot on treatment that is also safe to use on nursing mothers. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash their bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house such as Indorex.. Make sure Miss Kitty and her kittens are away from where you sprayed the flea spray until it is completely dry. As for the kittens, they are too young for flea treatment and do not put anything on them. You can gently bathe them in warm water and Dawn dish soap, using a flea comb to get all the fleas out of their fur. Be sure to dry them completely so they don't get cold.

Treating a flea infestation involves treating the pet(s) as well as the environment. Frequently, these "natural" products do little to resolve an infestation.They don't last long enough and/or are simply ineffective. You can use CapStar, a small pill, to kill any fleas on Luna within 30 minutes of ingestion This can be obtained from your veterinarian and can be given daily if needed. A monthly topical , such as Frontline or Revolution, should be used for at least 3 consecutive months to break the flea life cycle.You can apply it at night and it will be dry and safe by morning when the kids are awake. Treat the environment by vacuuming everywhere Luna has been. Discard the bag or empty the canister outdoors immediately afterwards. Wash ALL bedding in the hottest water allowable and dry it in the dryer to kill any flea eggs. A safe area treatment would be Advantage Carpet and Upholstery Spray. Hi I would suggest you buy a box of 6 pipettes of Revolution. Make sure you apply one pipette on each cat to the skin to the back of their neck, so it’s important you part hair when applying it. You need to repeat it every month. I would also suggest you spray the environment to kill all eggs and larvae present. My 4-week-old kitten has severe fleas and is anemic. What to do?

I would recommend a Dawn dish soap bath with warm water and make sure you dry Sally well. I would look for a product called Frontline Spray, which should be labeled for young cats. Once she is 6-8 weeks, talk to a vet in your area about topical products, like Revolution or Frontline Gold. I also recommend treating the house for fleas with a carpet spray. Remember to throw out the vacuum bag and treat the other pets in the house for fleas. Make sure Sally is eating a quality diet with the proper vitamins and minerals the help the anemia. If the anemia is severe, she may require a blood transfusion. Kisses to Sally!
