Can I get an affordable over-the-counter tapeworm medicine for my cat?

Hello. This is definitely a tapeworm. Go to https://www.chewy.com ( or check with your local pet retailer ) & pick up Bayer tapeworm de-wormer for cats. That will take care of the problem for now. Hello. Since you wormed her for the tapeworms, it is a good idea to also worm for roundworms & hookworms. You should be able to easily find this at PetSmart, just look for anything that indicates it has pyrantel pamoate in it & just follow the label directions. Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. There are many over the counter products available in pet stores in the U.S. that are good dewormers. Milbemax, Revolution, Drontal, Strongid, Panacur, are some examples. I recommend calling your local vet to ask which products are most efficacious and available in your area, and you can get them from the store. For feral cats, the biggest problem is getting the medication into them, so you can talk with your vet about pills vs. liquids. If you are feeding them then a tablet in the food might work, but only if you are feeding them separately. Best of luck with the kitties!

There are over the counter tapeworm dewormers available such as this one: https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/bayer-tapeworm-dewormer-tablets-for-cats which contain the drug praziquantel. The tapeworm requires an intermediate host, such as a flea, so the other pets cannot catch it directly from this cat but if there are fleas in the hosue they could get it that way.

That is a lovely kitty you have there! If the worm you saw looked like a little squirmy grain of rice, then Cadbury has tapeworms. This is easily treated with a cat wormer that contains praziquantel. You should be able to get that from your vet, or over the counter from a pet shop. You can also order it over the internet. Drontal for cats would be such a wormer.
