My senior yorkie has tapeworm. What affordable OTC dewormer?

The most common tapeworm is flea transmitted like you discuss. There are over the counter medicines and the drug you would want to use is called Praziquantal. It is available under many brand names but that is the drug that we use in the States to treat most tapeworm infections. Good luck with Roxy

Hello. This is definitely a tapeworm. Go to https://www.chewy.com ( or check with your local pet retailer ) & pick up Bayer tapeworm de-wormer for cats. That will take care of the problem for now. Hello. There are wormers available over the counter that will take care of tapeworms. Make sure the product contains the ingredient praziquantel, or you can pick up SafeGuard canine wormer at Petco. If you want to be sure of what you might be seeing befors giving Poppy any wormer, you can always take a fecal sample to your vet for analysis. You can't visually tell the difference between hookworms and roundworms. Thankfully, treatment is similar. You can use an OTC dewormer like the one linked below. Hello, my name is Dr. Shines and I am happy to help. You can get a product called Bayer Quad Dewormer and use it on Taz as long as he is over 2lbs. Instruction will be on the package. Give it with food to decrease the potential for GI upset. Tapeworms come from fleas so be sure to keep him current on flea prevention. Your veterinarian will carry the best products like Nexgard but for now, you can use name brand Frontline or Advantage/Advantix. I also recommend and agree with you to get him into the vet to be checked for other parasites. If he has one type, he may have others.
