Is Advantage Multi safe to use with a dewormer for my pet's fleas?

The Advantage Multi and Drontal contain different ingredients that do not negatively interact in the body, so they are safe to give together. Drontal usually comes in a size-specific bottle for cats and will have the recommended dosage labeled on the side. I recommend only using the Drontal as stated by the manufacturer. Hi there! Both are quite safe and effective in my experience. Bravecto covers fleas and ticks, while Advantage Multi covers heartworms, intestinal parasites, and fleas. You could use either one (or both) depending on what you need in your area.

Yes you can certainly use these products together. Dewormers are often given in conjunction with heartworm preventatives, even though they both treat for intestinal worms because the safety margin for dewormers is very wide, allowing us to do multiple doses if needed. Best wishes and take care.

Yes, you can give both products at the same time and Charlie will likely do fine. If you want to be extra cautious, separate them by two days. Neither product had activity against ticks. If ticks are a concern where you live, you can switch the products to something like Simparica for fleas and ticks and the Interceptor for heartworms and intestinal worms. Hi there! I hate to disagree with your veterinarian - but personally, I never recommend underdosing pets with flea/heartworm medication, as this can cause the meds to not be effective. In fact, it's recommended to round up to the next higher weight range if there is any doubt about which one the pet fits into, or if their weight is borderline. This is because these meds have a very high margin of safety, so the risks of underdosing are much greater. For this reason, personally, I would use the higher weight range for your 10+ lb kitty unless your vet has a specific reason not to recommend this in her case. Advantage Multi, like Revolution, is absorbed internally - this is how it's able to treat intestinal parasites and prevent heartworm disease. There is no problem with using either of these monthly long-term, as they're both extremely safe medications in cats :)

Yes, the Advantage should have already started working, and if you're still seeing fleas on Jasper he may need a dose of Capstar in order to knock them all down. That's an oral medication that causes adult fleas to leave the pet; you can get it from your vet or at a pet store. The Advantage should handle the rest. Regarding intestinal parasites, a fecal exam is needed to verify the presence of those in the intestinal tract. Although Advantage Multi prevents some intestinal parasites, it's not always effective at resolving existing intestinal parasite infestations. So it's probably a good idea to have your vet check Jasper's stool sample for the presence of parasites and deworm him accordingly. Keep in mind too that he may be ravenous because he's been on the street! But absolutely I would check for intestinal parasites as a precaution.

Hi and thanks for your post! Yes this is okay. Sentinel does not kill adult fleas, just the eggs. Sentinel also does not prevent ticks as you mentioned in your question. Advantix does, however. I hope this helps!
