My active kittens aren't eating much. Should I be worried about them?

I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. If Roxzy is otherwise doing well – it is good you noticed that his stool is normal, he’s not vomiting and his energy level is good – I am not overly concerned if his appetite is down for a few days. But it if it persists or he seems otherwise unhealthy I would recommend getting him looked at by your vet. Of course it is never wrong to have him examined so if you’d rather be safe I would certainly support you taking him in!

This behaviour could be due to fever, pain, intestinal worms and more. Please de-worm your kittens if they have not been dewormed in the last few days. If it does not make any difference, please take him to your local vets for an appointment.

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It sounds like Beau only seemed disinterested in one meal this morning, but has since had a good appetite. He is also urinating and defecating normally, which is good. As long as Beau continues to eat, isn't having any vomiting or diarrhea or acting excessively lethargic, and is otherwise healthy, I would not be worried. I would keep a close eye on him for the next day or so to make sure he is doing well. I hope this is helpful!

What a cutie! She looks healthy but being so small is a concern. I do recommend a veterinary exam when she’s due for vaccinations and checking a fecal sample for intestinal parasites. Some kittens grow at a slower rate so I’m not overly concerned about it yet, but if she doesn’t grow then she may have a medical problem that should be addressed. Kitten food is actually more nutritious than KMR - KMR is really for those tiny kittens who are so little they're not yet ready to try solids on their own. So, if your kitten is willing to eat canned kitten food well, I would work on weaning her off the KMR. However, if she's refusing to eat anything for more than 1 meal in a row, then I would take her right in to your vet. Little kittens like Baby can get dehydrated and sick very quickly, so prompt medical care is important if she's not feeling well. Hope this helps!
