My new 7-week-old kitten won't eat and cries constantly. What to do?

Hello. I would speak with your veterinarian as soon as possible. In such a young kitten, things can change very quickly especially if Sheeran has been incubating an illness early on & is showing symptoms now. He is still so young that he may need antibiotics are additional testing to see what the problem might be. I hope you can have him seen soon, but do make sure he continues to eat & drink every day. Hello, your question stated the cat is 15 years, but I'm assuming from the photo that she is 15 days old (as stated in the pet info tab). At this age, she needs to be nursing from her mother or receiving a kitten milk replacer. Try feeding her milk replacer from a bottle. Put a small drop of the milk replacer on the nipple of the bottle so she can smell it, and with your finger you can put a drop on her lips. Hopefully this will help entice her to eat. If she will not suckle, you can bring her to your nearest veterinarian who should be able to teach you how to tube feed her until she is strong enough to suckle or lap the milk replacer up from a saucer. At 5 weeks Baby should be old enough to start eating some solid food. You can try mixing some canned kitten food with some kitten formula like KMR and putting it in a shallow dish. If she still won’t eat I would recommend seeing a veterinarian to determine what might be wrong. They can also teach you how to tube feed if necessary.

You can probably wait until the morning to take him in to your regular vet. Just try to keep him calm and comfortable until then the best you can. If he starts crying out in pain for no reason, is vomiting without stopping, or having any bloody vomitus or diarrhea you should take him in tonight. Otherwise he will likely be ok until morning. Crying can be because he’s hungry, cold, or has to go potty. Make sure you are feeding him often enough with kitten milk replacer if he is not nursing his mother. Stimulating him to pee and poop with a warm damp cloth around his tail should be done several times a day to keep him regular. Kittens can die quickly if they get cold so make sure he is snuggled in a warm place or with another animal. He is still very young and misses his mommy and his siblings. You should feed him canned kitten food, as kibble is still too hard and a kitten cannot eat enough of it. Feed him small portions 4-5 times a day and feed as much as he wants to eat, ie refill the bowl a little bit at a time. Make sure water is available but not next to the food. It needs to be about 6 feet away from the food bowl. At this age (71 days) he should weigh a little over 1kg, or 2.3lbs
