Why is my 3-week-old kitten's poop runny and yellow? Should I worry?

She is cute! She could have an infection or a parasite. You could take a stool sample to your vet and have it tested for parasites. If she hasn't been dewormed then an intestinal parasite is a definite possibility and your vet can prescribe a dewormer. She might also need some fluids to prevent dehydration. You could also add a probiotic to her food and see if that helps. Hope she gets better soon!

It is possible Meshmesh could have intestinal worms causing his soft and yellow stool. Make sure he is up to date on his deworming treatments, giving him one if he isn't. He needs to be dewormed monthly until he is six months old, and then he should dewormed every three months thereafter.

In many cats, a light brown or yellowish color can be normal to the stool. If it becomes more of a pale yellow/white yellow, or becomes loose or has mucus or blood in the stool, these would be reasons for concern and a visit to the vet should take place.

It is possible that runny bowel movements may be due to the presence of gastrointestinal parasites. It also may be due to the type of diet Bruce is currently taking in and how much of the diet he is receiving. I wouldn't necessarily be worried quite yet if the feces just appears to be a little runny. I would actually be far more worried if you were telling me that you couldn't get him to defecate at all. At 2-3 weeks of age, Bruce can begin to be weaned off of kitten milk replace and can start to receive kitten food mixed in with some of the replacer. You may continue to see a little runny fecal material as Bruce adjusts to the new diet. Once he reaches, 4-6 weeks of age, start thinking about the use of a dewormer to eliminate any of the GI parasites that he almost certainly has inside of his belly. Hope this helps!

This is fairly normal stool for a neonatal kitten, although it does look a bit watery. The stool should start to become more firm and brown as the kitten gets older. If it seems very watery or you are seeing blood or mucous there would be some concern. It might be a good idea to have this very young kitten examined by a vet regardless to make sure it seems to be healthy and to discuss proper bottle feeding and other care.

They are all so cute! If the stool is firm and otherwise normal, the color could be a natural variation, but it can also indicate a bacterial infection. If the stool is loose (like diarrhea), then I would suspect there could be a bacterial infection. To be safe, I would take Angel and kittens into the vet now for a check up. Some variation in bowel movements can be normal especially in very young still maturing animals. However, I would monitor your kitten closely and ensure she is nursing frequently from her mother.
