Is a small notch between my cockatiel's nostrils normal or a concern?

I'm watching a friends cockatiel and i noticed a small notch between nostrils. Like a little unicorn. Is it a concern?

Without seeing a photo it is hard to say what you are describing. Cockatiels do have a normal crease in between nostrils which is what you may be seeing. However, some growths such as fungal or tumorous growths can appear there as well. If the area is rapidly changing, or Woody is showing any signs of illness such as refusal to eat or drink, listless behavior, etc, having a vet take a look is best.

    As long as he is behaving normally, eating, drinking and defecating normally then there is likely no cause for concern. Monitor for lethargy, difficulty breathing, wheezing or excessive sneezing. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian or an experienced avian vet.
