My budgie's nostril looks weird. Is a seed stuck or is it normal?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | 12 lbs

I saw a seed in his nostril, looked like a seed at least. It was just on top and after flying I think it must've fallen out. Is it possible the seed could've gone inside, does his nose look normal?

Thanks for including the picture of Kukoo. A millet seed is a perfect size to fit into the nostril of a budgie.
But they also possess a normal part of the anatomy that is a keratin piece inside the nostril. This piece is normal and no attempt should be made to remove it.
If Kukoo is doing well, no need to do anything additional.
Placing him in a warm steamy shower room ocassionally can help moisten nasal accumulations and allow the bird to maybe sneeze it out.
Vitamin A in the diet (red, orange, and yellow vegetable) help with the integrity of epithelial cells. Dietary deficiencies can lead to secondary sinus (and other) infections, so correcting the diet might help.
