My budgie has a scar that's still visible after months. What to do?

I am sorry to hear about your bird! It is difficult to fully evaluate a wound from a photo. From the photo it looks like there could be some areas of black skin. If this is the case and the skin itself is black, we would be concerned this tissue has become devitalized and is dead, and needs to be surgically removed/debrided. If the black area is just scabbing over the wound, then I would continue with your current treatments, but I would have expected the wound to be healed after several months unless it was very deep within the tissues. Your vet may also need to do a culture of the wound if it is still not healing to see what bacteria is growing and if it requires a different antibiotic. Best of luck to you and Tika.

Any other animals that could have possible harmed her, other birds or cats? Monitor appetite and activity. If lesion grows or Dawn becomes weak or stops eating, a veterinary visit is recommended. It would be best to have him seen by a doctor familiar with birds for a full physical to ensure he doesn't have any underlying bruises or fractures from the fights. Thanks for reaching out about Buddy and including photos. This is evident of trauma, could this bird be getting scared in the cage and flying/hitting the cage bars? Decreasing stress will hopefully allow to calm down. If suspect injury or appears painful, a veterinary visit is recommended. Good luck.

Thanks for reaching out about Angel. Is there aggression in the cage, could this be caused by other birds? If so, isolation to reduce further trauma. Scabs can also be due to scaly beak and leg mites, which are contagious to other birds, more common if this or other birds are recently acquired. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Some local pet stores could have remedies, but probably not as effective as the vet. Good luck.
