My bird is spinning in circles, head turned 180 degrees. Is it sick?

It's possible Sharpie may have just been stretching oddly, however if you continue to see odd or jerking movements, she doesn't perk back up, or you see new signs of illness such as refusal to eat or drink, it is best to schedule a veterinary exam. Neurologic issues, illness, and toxicity may all cause strange random movements or jerking motion in addition to other symptoms.

If your bird is not able to be roused out of this episode then I would be very concerned. It sounds as if she’s having a neurological problem, most likely seizures. If it was just a one time occurrence and Calypso is otherwise acting normal, eating and drinking well, I would not worry. I hope this helps. Loss of balance is a very concerning sign and I would recommend bringing her to a local vet for a complete exam. Muscular and neurologic issues, underlying illness, seizures, old age, toxicity, nutritional issues and more can call cause problems with balance and requires an exam to help narrow down the possible causes. Until you can get into the vet, you can move Millet's perches closer to the floor of her cage to prevent injury if she falls, and make sure she has food and water dishes that are easy to climb in and out of if she is having trouble getting around. If you see any additional signs of illness, be sure to let your vet know.

If he's like that even while eating, drinking, or being active (not sleeping) and never has his head in a normal position, it wouldn't hurt to have him examined by your vet. It's possible there could be an underlying issue such as a nutritional problem or even a neuromuscular issue that would benefit from being checked out.

If Narashi is otherwise happy and healthy he may just be excited and playful and thus is flapping around and moving. If he seems in distress, can't balance, or is showing other signs of illness, then an issue such as illness, injury, neurologic or muscular issues, etc may be causing it. If you suspect this may be the case, an exam from your vet is best.

Unfortunately, this is something that needs to be evaluated by a vet, and home treatment, while it may help make Blueberry feel more comfortable, may not treat the underlying problem. I would be concerned there is an issue such as an injury, neurologic or muscular problem or even nutritional issues that could be the cause, so a vet exam is needed to figure it out. In the meantime, keeping Blueberry calm and quiet in a warm hospital cage along with perches that are low to the ground and food/water that is easy to climb in and out of may make things easier and more comfortable.

If Enzo was bobbing his head up and down, he was likely regurgitating. Birds do this to share food or feed their mates, chicks or owners. It is a high compliment if he regurgitated for you! Vomiting is a symptom of a sick bird and is characterized by a quick flicking of the head from side to side as ingesta is ejected. This requires veterinary attention.
