Hello. There really is not enough information to totally recommend removing your bird from your home, especially if a low volatile latex paint is used. But, I think it is a very good idea since you have someone to watch the bird for you. It is not just the paint fumes that need to be considered, but any dust kicked up from the cleaning & preparation of the walls. This is really important if there is any possibility of lead based paint in the house. I would keep Rico out of your home for a full 3 days after the painting is done making sure the whole house is well ventilated. This might be a little overkill, but better safe than sorry. Also, make sure your friend knows exactly how to care for your bird, & that the room conditions are the same as in your home. Aerosol is bad for birds, but only if it's used in close-quarters. If you are in a separate room when using the product and the door stays closed, then there is little to no chance it will be a problem for your bird.

Hi, I would recommend a warm bath with Dawn dish soap to help remove the oil. Keep Bert warm and away from drafts. I do strongly recommend an exam by a veterinarian to make sure there isn’t anything more serious going on, and you can find other bird veterinarians online at AAV.org. Good luck!
