Why are my bird's eyes red and wide after a vet visit or trimming?

If they had to gas or sedate him to do this I would definitely expect him to be sleepy. If they didn't it could be that ideas stressful for him and he's very tired. If he doesn't perk up have him examined.

It's possible the nails were trimmed too short and are either now a bit painful or making it hard for him to grip properly. Making sure he has the right size perch for his size may help make it easier for him to grip and stay upright. If the problem persists, or he shows any other issues or signs of illness, then ruling out anything more serious with your vet is best.

It is difficult to fully appreciate what you are describing in the images provided. Red quills may be due to trauma, infection or even a defect. As long as there is no active bleeding and Neptune is behaving normally then you can simply monitor him. If the feathers appear to cause him discomforts, you can have him examined by your veterinarian or an experienced avian veterinarian. If necessary, the feathers can be plucked and new ones will grow in place. Do not attempt to pluck the feathers on your own.

The red color just looks like some sort of stain (maybe from the playground or bath) and Rio otherwise looks normal. If Rio is eating, drinking and acting fine, then no need to worry. If you notice something else wrong with him, then it would be best to alert your vet and they can check him over to see if he has some other issue causing the red stain. It is certainly posdible that he could be damaged as they are quite delicate and their bones are relatively brittle. However I doubt this is the case, more likely I think that the bird has got really stressed when being held and overheated and likely struggled for breath. Handling can be incredibly stressful for birds and sometimes can even result in heart attacks. I would kerp him in a really calm and quiet environment as this has likely taken a large toal on him and he needs to rest. If there is no improvement you will need a vet check just in case there has been damage.

That is likely to be due to a mild to moderate conjunctivitis, probably secondary to a trauma or infection. A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well. Based on the pictures you provided it does appear that there is some hemorrhage under the skin of the eye. This is most likely related to trauma (ie hitting the eye/face on something). Keep an eye on it for now. If your bird is otherwise acting normal then I would not worry about it too much. If however the redness spreads or your bird seems painful you should probably take him in to be checked out by your veterinarian. I hope this helps.
