My bird has red on his feet and face after a bath. Is it serious?

Based on the pictures you provided it does appear that there is some hemorrhage under the skin of the eye. This is most likely related to trauma (ie hitting the eye/face on something). Keep an eye on it for now. If your bird is otherwise acting normal then I would not worry about it too much. If however the redness spreads or your bird seems painful you should probably take him in to be checked out by your veterinarian. I hope this helps. I do not see anything wrong with him in these photos. That does not mean that everything is fine. He may have something going on internally. I just suggest you monitor him closely for the next few hours. If he is fine during that time then he will likely be OK. If you notice any abnormal behavior you should have him examined by an avian veterinarian.

Thanks for reaching out about Penny and including pictures. The photos are a bit blurry and a red stain can not be identified. One of the more common causes of red stains, is a broken blood feather and minor bleeding. Most birds will take care of this themselves. If you believe your bird is sick, it is important to take her to a veterinarian. By the time they appear ill, it can be quit advanced. Good luck.

Thanks for your question about Astro. Red in the droppings can be caused by a number of things. The most concerning of these of course is fresh blood. I am not sure if Astro has eaten anything red in the last few hours - this would include any kind of produce, pellets, or human food that is red in color. If not, then I would recommend that you take him in for evaluation. If you have a sample of the dropping that was red in color, I would recommend taking that with you, as your veterinarian can evaluate it under the microscope to look for evidence of blood. It is probably from scratching or rubbing. As long as the spots resolve and there are no other symptoms, there is likely no cause for concern. Use concrete perches or clip his nails regularly to keep them in trim. (My African Grey gets the same thing occasionally).

It looks like Pretty Boy may be having a reaction to something causing the redness. External parasites such as mites, excessive itching, and rubbing on cage bars may all cause redness or loss of feathers. Infections from bacteria or fungus may also cause feather loss and redness. It is best to have the area looked at by your vet, who can recommend treatment such as a mite medication or antifungal to help the area clear up. It can take some time for the feathers to regrow, so even after treatment it may take a little time for the area to return to normal.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Your bird should be fine and act normal after a nail trim or feather trim unless they were injured during the process, in which case it should be addressed at the time of trimming. Without a photo it would be hard to say if the red eyes are normal or not, but if Jupiter got a clean bill of health at the vet, I wouldn't be too worried.
