Why is my bird not flying? Could it be an internal disease spreading?

I am so sorry but I did not see your original question so I'm not sure how much I can help. The only advice I can give you is to take Harry to an avian veterinarian so they can help you determine if the cause of his illness is internal or external. What the other expert was referring (I guess) is that you need to figure out if he truly "can't" fly or is it that he is just too weak/sick to fly. We worry that when birds are having trouble flying that they may not be feeling well or that they have pain somewhere. To add to this, it is worrisome that she is letting you handle her since this is not normal for Spartan. At your veterinarian's office, they can perform a thorough examination and they may recommend performing diagnostic testing depending on what they find on exam. This may include performing radiographs (x-rays) or systemic blood work. Then they can make recommendations for treatments based on their findings as well. I'm sorry your bird isn't doing well. If he is unable to digest food and now has an infection or growths, it would be best to have him checked out by your vet in person. Infections internally, GI issues, organ dysfunction, parasites, etc can all be possible causes to not digesting food properly, and having any new growths looked at is best. In the meantime, keeping him eating, drinking and keeping any wounds or affected areas clean can help, as well as making sure he is separated from any other birds to prevent the spread of illness.

This is usually a sign of a wing injury, if he can still fly then the wing is not broken. if the problem does not resolve within a week i would recommend taking him to an avian vet specialist in order to get it checked and treated.

Birds can carry disease that is transmissible to humans, such as psittacosis. Since you have multiple birds and people in your household that are ill, I would recommend scheduling a vet visit for your remaining birds and a doctor's visit for any medical issues your human family is experiencing.
