Will riding English and Western confuse my cross-trained horse?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It should be fine to use a western saddle on Lexus. The more diverse a horse is the better. Just be sure that your cues for walk, trot, canter, stop etc are the same. I would not try to change her head carriage or way of motion though. She does need a different gait if you were to do true western pleasure on her and that may confuse the training she already has in place.

Hello. Every horse is an individual, & despite everything you might read, if Beau was doing well on the oats & hay, then that is good for him. Your photo shows a nicely balanced horse. Please do keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't start to colic again. The stress of travel may have upset his digestion. If you can keep to the same feed and hay and have plenty of fresh water. Hello. If working your horse will not irritate or make the ulcers bleed, then light work would be appropriate. If your horse shows any pain or discomfort, & is reluctant to move comfortably, then stop & just allow the lesions to heal completely before continuing to use him. Hi there, Start by using treats to encourage her to do the trick. Focus on one trick and a time, and then once she's learned that practice it daily. Horses need repetition and praise. For her to learn tricks, she'll need positive reinforcement when she does well and not be punished if she hasn't learned it yet. Keep things consistent and make it fun for her and you'll do well. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It should not be a problem using different crate as long as the same rules and routine for Stu applies. Meaning it’s the same size and has the same options in it (I.e blankets, toys, bowls) and you use the same manners to get in and out of it. Kisses to Stu!

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It is so nice that you are so concerned about making sure Buddy is happy. It is important to make this a big part of your life. It is also ok to have other things in your life, like cycling. If you feel that Buddy isn't getting enough exercise, you can always hire a dog walker to take him out while you are at work for some added play time. Otherwise just make sure you are still giving Buddy time for walks and ways to blow off steam (agility training for heelers is a really good activity to help with keeping them stimulated), and when you want to go for rides he can just hang out and rest.
