My horse has a nasal fracture. How can I keep her comfortable now?

Ouch! You definitely want to keep Baby from injuring her nose any further. Make her wear an elizabethan collar at all times and try to prevent her from rubbing her nose against furniture or carpets. Don’t apply anything as you may accidentally block her nostrils and cause her to have a hard time breathing. Definitely take her into the veterinarian. Soreness in a horse's back is definitely not uncommon, particularly as they get a little older and if they are using inappropriate tack. There are several things that can be done in order to address pain. I would not attempt to "crack" her back without having some measure of expertise in equine chiropractics. Chiropractics and acupuncture are both valuable tools for helping horses but only in the hands of a skilled practitioner. Other options would include anti-inflammatory medication like banamine, phenylbutazone, or previcox. These are all prescription drugs that would require the approval from a veterinarian. Lastly, one thing you should do regardless of your choice is to stall rest delilah for the next few days. Give her back some time to settle down in case there is any spasming. Hope this helps!

Provide food and water and minimize stress and handling once separated. I would recommend taking him to an avian veterinarian to assess the severity of the injury and determine what treatment may be needed. Poor Filamena! I am sure this is a stressful experience for you and her. I am glad she has good pain medication support. Tramadol has a wide dose range and dosing frequency range so if you feel like her current level of pain is not well-managed on the current dose or dosing interval this may be able to be adjusted with a call to her doctor. Also if you feel like she is still painful with these medications your veterinarian could recommend adding on something else in the short-term. Additionally Huskies are a very sensitive breed so she may be feeling a little bit anxious as well so you may be able to discuss a mild sedative with your veterinarian to see if this helps her rest and remain relaxed in this short-term period. It's also possible if this just happened today that she may be having some side effects from any pain medications given at the clinic which should be better over the next 24 hours. Also make sure her splint is comfortable and not causing any toe swelling that might indicate it is too tight and uncomfortable for her. I would endeavour to get her sn emergency appointment tonight to get some pain relief as I imagine she will be sore. However if you cannot I would move her into a smaller area with a soft material on the floor and no loose bedding or objects thst she could catch herself on. Feed and water as usual. Treatment will vary depending on severity of injury, it may be medicine or could be surgery if the leg is broken. Again cost will vary massively depending on the injury.

I am so sorry! Since it has been a few days she may still heal on her own. I am concerned though that she may have a broken rib or puncture lung since she is breathing heavily. I wish I had a great home care treatment for her but it sounds like she needs extensive medical care to ease her pain and help her heal. You could call the vet that saw her and see if they can prescribe any pain meds or additional pain meds to help her. Plus without seeing her and knowing exactly what is going on, it is hard for me to give any recommendations. If she is continuing to suffer and treatment isn't an option, you may want to consider humane euthanasia so she doesn't continue to suffer. I'm sorry and I hope she starts to heal.

I would recommend that you have Elsa examined by a vet ASAP. She could have a broken facial bone. Sneezing is often caused by irritation or something stuck in the nasal passage. I am not familiar with the medication Eylthamasylate, but ibugesic plus sound like a medication that contains ibuprofen, which is incredibly toxic to pets, even at very low doses. Elsa should be checked out for broken bones and be treated for a possible toxic dose of ibuprofen.
