To clean your chameleon’s cage, remove its waste, uneaten food and skin that has been shed on a daily basis. The weekly cleaning process should include removing most of the decorations from the chameleon habitat, wiping them down and sanitizing them, if necessary. Disinfect any food and water containers, furnishings and the tank itself with a 3% bleach solution, making sure to rinse and dry well before replacing them back in the tank.
A typical chameleon cage will be about 2-feet long, 2-feet wide and between 3- and 4-feet high. These dimensions can help give your pet enough room to move around, both vertically and horizontally.
Here are some important items to include in your chameleon terrarium:
Incorporate a mix of plants, vines and branches so the chameleon habitat is primed for your pet to move around. A few popular plants include ficus trees, golden pothos, bromeliads and dragon trees. Make sure to affix branches and vines from the bottom of the chameleon cage to the top, with a mix of plants and leaves at every level.
Chameleons cannot internally regulate their temperature, so different temperature gradients should be incorporated into the chameleon enclosure. The basking spots can range from 80 to 100 degrees, while the rest of the cage should be in the 70s—and no less than high 40s at night. Check out our Veiled Chameleon care sheet for more helpful tips.
A chameleon mesh enclosure is often best for this reptile species because it allows for proper ventilation and natural light. Find the perfect habitat for your chameleon, gecko, bearded dragon and other lizards at Petco.

I have a few questions about an ackie monitor. I want to eventually get one to add to my babies. Right now I have my beardie Loki, he is my baby. Can I build a wire cage with wood bottom half to allow soil nd sand mix for digging? Can I keep his cage outside like I do lokis? I don't see why gets a light when natural uvb is always better. What a good care sheet to read on them to learn what I need too.
Hello! I’ve been thinking about purchasing a leopard gecko and I’m not sure if your know anything about this but, would it be okay to use a fish tank that was originally used for a hamster?
what size cage does an adult bearded dragon need? what substrate should I use? is bioactivity possible with bearded dragons?
What kind of wood stain is safe to use on a bearded dragon’s enclosure
Is this a good setup for Nighthawk, the first photo is the over all setup, the second one is the side view and the third is the water and calcium dishes. I use an under tank heater that stays at about 88 degrees Fahrenheit and the vines are fake. He has a warm hide and a cold hide with moss in it that’s i spray down every other day. The little box is another little hide that I can see him in. And the background is tile it paper rolls that were painted(they were left to dry for two weeks)
I am looking to get a bigger cage for my 2 year old conure. Currently I’m in the market to buy one online that is advertised as a “solid metal cage” coated with “non-toxic hammertone paint” which included stainless steel dishes. I was just wondering if this would actually be a safe cage for a green cheek. The seller is YaheeTech, which is based in Ontario California but customer pictures show a box with "Made in China." Mostly 5 stars, with lowest rating be 3 stars. Is non-toxic hammertone safe?
What's the safest chemical to use when cleaning a newly bought cage for a crested gecko?
What kind of habitat should my gerbils live in a cage or tank this is my first time having gerbils?
Hi there. So I am looking into getting a heat dome for my crested gecko. I know they don’t have to have a heat lam but I want him to have a UVB bulb Because it’s good for them. But I am not quite sure that type to get. Any suggestions? I was looking at petco’s tropical combo pack. He lives in a 10 g. With live plant. (I will upgrade when he is bigger) also do you know an age on him? I got him 3 months ago from petsmart. I could tell he was a male a week after I got him. (Pic from yesterday)
