Spayed rabbit not eating or pooping since yesterday. Is this normal?

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | spayed | 4 lbs

I got my rabbit spayed yesterday morning and she has barely eaten since and I don't think she has pooped.

Rabbits have very sensitive GI systems and signs of inappetence and constipation could suggest a serious underlying illness. It is very important that you take Emmie back to the vet who spayed her right away. These signs could be because if a reaction to the anesthesia or they could suggest a more serious issue including infection or pain from the surgery. Good luck! I hope Emmie is feeling better soon.

    This isn't a very good sign, it can happen either due to pain or due to gut stasis caused by the anesthesia, i would recommend taking her to the vet that spayed her as she will need some supportive treatment to get her GI system moving again as well as pain killers if she has not received any yet.

    This is not normal. Typically when I neuter a rabbit they are eating with in minutes of waking up from anesthesia. I would take him to the vet immediately . Anorexia in rabbits can lead to there intestines not functioning properly. This is a big concern. It is possible the anesthesia or pain is making Bianca not want to eat. I would try to force feed with critical care and get to a vet for more aggressive help

Since Blossom is still eating and producing normal stool I would not worry just yet. She is probably very uncomfortable from her surgery. Continue to monitor her closely and if she stops eating then take her to your vet for a recheck.

Your vet should have it, most veterinary clinics that treat rabbits have this or something similar in stock. your rabbits should not need it though, if everything goes well, most chances are they will get back to eating within several hours after the surgery.

Hi, I am sorry to hear about Percy, a rabbit who is not defecating is a very serious condition which can indicating one of two emergencies gut stasis or gut obstruction. Both are life threatening. Since your rabbit demonstrating the signs mentioned above of: no fecal pellets, loss of appetite and lethargy it considered an emergency please take him/her to your vet immediately as rabbits can deteriorate very fast. A rabbit that is not eating is an emergency. I would get Skye to a vet that treats rabbits ASAP. My rabbit isn't pooping after surgery and is hiding. Is he okay?
Make sure he gets enough fluid , you may have to syringe the water into your rabbit. If you can get "Critical Care" you can mix that with water and feed him this if he stops eating. You can also take some of his pellets (or hay) and grind them into a powder, mix it with water and syringe it to him. This will tide him over until Monday when you see the vet with her. Once the intestine works again he should poop again.
