What if my rabbit doesn't eat after spay? What should I feed her?

I’m spaying my rabbits tomorrow I would have time to get it. What if my rabbit doesn’t eat. What should I feed it

Your vet should have it, most veterinary clinics that treat rabbits have this or something similar in stock. your rabbits should not need it though, if everything goes well, most chances are they will get back to eating within several hours after the surgery.

    First off, good on you for getting Daisy spayed! A spay is a major abdominal surgery, and she will be tired and in some pain from it. It is normal to see a reduction in appetite after a surgery like this, but it's great that she is still eating. I would continue to keep an eye on her, and her appetite should return to normal over the next couple of days. If her appetite decreases or she stops eating, then I would take her back into the vet for a check up. I hope this helps :-)

Spayed rabbit not eating or pooping since yesterday. Is this normal?
Rabbits have very sensitive GI systems and signs of inappetence and constipation could suggest a serious underlying illness. It is very important that you take Emmie back to the vet who spayed her right away. These signs could be because if a reaction to the anesthesia or they could suggest a more serious issue including infection or pain from the surgery. Good luck! I hope Emmie is feeling better soon.

Hello. Generally, within a few hours of recovery we want a rabbit to start eating. While burring down a spur should not be a particularly invasive or painful procedure, rabbits can be quite sensitive to anesthesia. Continue syringe feeding him and medicating him. If you can get some Oxbow Critical Care for Herbivores, that would be recommended. Have him rechecked by your veterinarian when you can to rule out any complications from the procedure. If his teeth needed extensive work, the recovery period may be prolonged.

Look for Oxbow Critical Care for Herbivores. Your veterinarian may stock it or you may be able to find it online. If Fluffy is not eating at all, this should be considered a veterinary emergency. Have her physically examined by your veterinarian, a vet experienced in treating rabbits or at the nearest veterinary ER. It is critical to get her eating normally to keep her gut moving. Gut stasis can be life threatening in rabbits.

Since Blossom is still eating and producing normal stool I would not worry just yet. She is probably very uncomfortable from her surgery. Continue to monitor her closely and if she stops eating then take her to your vet for a recheck.

My rabbit isn't pooping after surgery and is hiding. Is he okay?
Make sure he gets enough fluid , you may have to syringe the water into your rabbit. If you can get "Critical Care" you can mix that with water and feed him this if he stops eating. You can also take some of his pellets (or hay) and grind them into a powder, mix it with water and syringe it to him. This will tide him over until Monday when you see the vet with her. Once the intestine works again he should poop again.
