Why does my rabbit sniff her sister's tail and make her run away?

Female intact (non-spayed) rabbits have hormonal cycles and release pheromones in the urine. Other rabbits can detect this through smell and will attracted to the rear end of your rabbit. As an addition, rabbits have a high incidence of uterine cancer and should be spayed.

Thanks for reaching out. They are probably vying for dominance and might have had a fight, where the vulva could have been bitten. Rabbits are induced ovulators, and need to be spayed to prevent uterine cancer, which is very common. They need to be kept separate, and spayed. Good luck.

Thanks for reaching out. Not all individuals get along, especially in confined areas. As young rabbits mature and hormone levels rise, territoriality and dominance are fought over to establish. Hello, and thank you for your question. Did you just get Fluffy recently? Most rabbits are not accustomed to being picked up if they haven't been handled from a young age. I suspect she wags her tail in an attempt to squirm away. I would take it very slow, and not attempt to pick her up if she is uncomfortable. Start by gently petting her, offering her treats and speaking to her softly. Eventually, you may be able to put her in your lap. The last step is to get her used to being picked up. Always support her bum with one hand, and support her back by putting it against your chest. Rabbits have very strong legs, and can injure their back or legs if they kick out in a panic. Taking your time to get Fluffy used to you will help get her comfortable with you and avoid any injuries. I hope this helps! Good luck with Fluffy!

Thanks for reaching out about Bun Bun. This question has been addressed once before but there recommendation is to have Bun Bun spayed, and Fluffy neutered also (if not). Intact female spays have an increased incidence of uterine cancer but also tend to fight more. Talk to a veterinarian in your locale. Good luck.

Thanks for reaching out about Zoomie. Most likely it is because she is an intact female, and is fighting for territory and dominance. She needs to be spayed to prevent uterine neoplasia anyways, so now would be a good time. If she continues to be aggressive to the dog and cat, something bad is bound to happen, so isolate her for now. Good luck.
