My two female rabbits are fighting and one is humping the other. Why?

This unfortunately happens sometimes where their bond is broken around the time they reach sexual maturity. It is wise to keep them seperated, because the mounting seems like aggressive behavior. However, I would have a vet double-check the sex of these two. I have seen many rabbits that were mistakenly identified as females, when they were actually males. This would also explain the mating behavior. You should also consider having them spayed/neutered at this age. I prefer to do this surgery around this age and it's quite safe when in an experienced surgeons hands. They will often cease the aggressive/mounting behavior after this procedure is done; and it saves from having a litter of unwanted bunnies...which is a big problem. Thanks for reaching out. They are probably vying for dominance and might have had a fight, where the vulva could have been bitten. Rabbits are induced ovulators, and need to be spayed to prevent uterine cancer, which is very common. They need to be kept separate, and spayed. Good luck.

This is part of dominance behavior, and the one humping the other is showing she is the top bunny. I wouldn't be concerned about it, but I would stop any aggression and separate them immediately. By the way, I love their names :-)

Thanks for reaching out about Zoomie. Most likely it is because she is an intact female, and is fighting for territory and dominance. She needs to be spayed to prevent uterine neoplasia anyways, so now would be a good time. If she continues to be aggressive to the dog and cat, something bad is bound to happen, so isolate her for now. Good luck.

Thanks for reaching out about Bun Bun. This question has been addressed once before but there recommendation is to have Bun Bun spayed, and Fluffy neutered also (if not). Intact female spays have an increased incidence of uterine cancer but also tend to fight more. Talk to a veterinarian in your locale. Good luck.

Mounting behavior is not unusual but I would recommend to have both rabbits checked out to be sure they are both males! You definitely don't want a bunch of baby rabbits! Male rabbits can sometimes become aggressive so neutering them is a good option to decrease aggression. You can discuss the surgery with the doctor during the visit to see if this is a good option for you.
