Why is my rabbit moving one newborn kit away from the others?

If the mama rabbit is refusing to nurse the little bunny I would recommend taking that bunny away from the others and trying to bottlefeed it. Or you could remove the other bunnies and try and let that one feed on its own for a few minutes. You can give it a couple hours but if the Mama is still refusing to feed that bunny you will probably have to bottlefeed it.

It's hard to know why the kits are dying, it could be due to an infectious disease or possibly due to low milk production of the mother. if they seem healthy and are active i would recommend keeping them together with the mother and hopping for the best.

It sounds like she is not cut out to be a mom. These non-vialbe pups may be due to a chronic viral infection or an inherent problem with her uterus. Regardless, I suggest you either keep her from getting pregnant again by not housing her with any males or have her spayed. That is the only way to keep this from happening again.

This is a very concerning finding, if the mother is actively taking the kitten away from the others she may feel this kitten is unwell and may be putting the other kittens at risk. I wold recommend a vet check for the kitten and mother to rule out any signs of infection and it may be worthwhile trying to bottle feed the kitten if rejected by the mother but success rate is quite poor if the kitten is unwell

Does are usually great mothers and will take excellent care of their babies. Keep in mind that baby bunnies can safely go 1 - 2 days before getting a full ‘meal.’ This is a protective mechanism since in the wild the doe might need to stay away from the nest for a while to avoid leading predators to her kits. Mother rabbits only ever feed their kits once a day, rarely twice, and that for just 5 to 10 minutes. In this short time frame, the kits get their whole day’s milk supply. So, if you never see the doe go near the nest box, but the little kits have round tummies, everything is fine. You don’t need to help nature along. Poor thing. Sometimes mama cats can sense that a kitty has some sort of defect, so they will neglect them and focus on the healthier kitty. Also, if somehow the kitty was touched by a person and the mother no longer smells the kitty's scent, but instead a human, this too will cause the mother to neglect said kitty. Give it time and continue to monitor this kitty closely to see if she is getting fed and stimulated to pee and poop on her own. If she isn't, then it may be a good idea to separate the kitty and nurse her yourself until she can be weaned onto kitty dry food, which is around 3-4 weeks of age.
