My rabbit is depressed. How do I introduce a new rabbit safely?

I am sorry for your loss. I would recommend just making sure she has enough to play with and interactions with you. Not all rabbit pair bond well. So it is possible if you get a new rabbit rica might not get along with it. Rabbits like to play and interact These are important to prevent behavioral issues. Hope that helps

I'm sorry about the loss of your bun. Rabbits do tend to do better in pairs, but it has to be a slow and gradual process to see if two rabbits will become a bonded pair. I would suggest talking to your local rescue to see if they would work with you to find her a partner. Rabbits tend to have longer, healthier lives inside - so I would recommend turning her into a house rabbit with or without a partner. Sorry about Patch. Spend lots of time with Buddy to try and fill contact time. You should probably wait until ensured that Buddy is doing well, eating well. Adding a new rabbit into the scene could possibly add more stress. Good luck.

Hello. Your bunnies are adorable! It’s good that they are spayed and neutered, as this should help your efforts to bond them. I’d recommend to give them ample space to retreat and feel safe when they’re together and always supervise them during the transition until the relationship is more secure. One way to start the process would be to feed each rabbit on either side of a baby gate or other divider that allows them to sniff and see each other. Provide ample hay, greens and pellets on each side of the gate so they’re spending a good amount of time near each other as they eat. After several days to a week of peaceful eating, remove the gate but keep the food the same. Monitor them closely during this time for signs of fear or aggression and separate them quickly if you see this. If there is a favorite treat, only give that out when they’re together so there is a positive association of being with the other rabbit. However, just like people, rabbits are individuals and may not get along no matter what we do. Be prepared for this possibility and don’t force it. While rabbits tend to be peaceful animals, they certainly can fight and when they do it can be serious.

If Donut is not content on her own then now would be an appropriate time to consider introducing another rabbit for company. Unneutered females can be aggressive however and it can require some time and patience to introduce a new pair and neutering Donut may be worthwhile considering to ease such transition if you are not breeding her

Poor Rica! And I am sorry the loss of your two rabbits. This can be a little stressful for them if they are really attached to their partner. Most rabbits adjust normally and continue to eat and continue their routine. I would watch Rica closely to ensure she is continuing to eat and act like herself. Also give her some extra TLC if she likes to be handled by humans. As far as knowing when they are not feeling well can be difficult. Some of the main things to look for is appetite, and activity level. You can also look to see whether or not there is any eye or nose discharge, sneezing/coughing, rapid breathing or diarrhea. Also, make sure there is plenty of room for two rabbits on their habitats. Small quarters can cause more stress. I hope this helps!
