My rabbit gave birth, now she has bloody discharge. Should I worry?

That could be completely normal as some of the birth remnants could be still inside. If the discharge persists more than 48hours and you notice systemic signs like lethargy or inappetence, a check up is needed. It isn't normal at all and is probably a sign of a severe gastrointestinal infection, unless you are mistaking and it's actually coming from the urinary tract, in that case it could be a urinary infection. either way it needs to be treated urgently, you need to take her to the vet ASAP in order to get it treated.

I would look them over carefully for any signs of injury and bleeding in case they were fighting. If you can't find anything significant, make sure that neither one is urinating blood as bladder stones are common in rabbits and this is the most common sign of this problem. If you find any wounds that seem deep, or if you think someone is peeing blood, he or she needs to see vet at your earilest convenience. Hopefully it was just a fluke!

Thanks for reaching out about Spot. This is not normal. Is she actively contracting? Usually parturition (birthing) is fairly quick in rabbits since the fetuses are very small. Spot should be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. In the meantime try to disturb her as little as possible, to reduce stress. Good luck.

Thanks for reaching out about Boopsie. She needs to see a veterinarian tonight, especially is still bleeding and anorexic. Discharging blood can be from uterine cancer, a urinary tract stone or other serious causes. The sooner this is dealt with, the better the prognosis. Good luck.

Coconut may have a urinary tract infection. You do not say where you find that substance, whether it is on her body and where on her body, or in her cage or enclosure. This would help in determining what this could be. You may want to take her to a veterinarian for an exam if this occurs again.
