My rabbit has bladder sludge. Should I give him Vitamin C? How much?

You should always be concerned if an animal eats more than the recommended dosage of anything. That being said, vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamins and she should just excrete the excess amount into the urine. This should not be a problem in a healthy rabbit, however, I cannot be 100% sure that she won’t have any side effects. Just monitor her closely for any signs of illness and if any of those are noticed then get her to the vet for an exam as soon as possible. in the meantime, do not give her any of those treats for the next 10-14 days. This can definitely wait until the morning, bladder sludge is more of a chronic condition and it takes time to become a real problem. Merlin will need to get treatment though, and change in his diet too (less pellets/hay and more fresh veggies). He will probably also need an xray done to make sure no stones have formed in the bladder.

Guinea pigs can handle large doses of Vitamin C usually without issue. It is a water soluble vitamin so excess will be excreted in the urine. The only time it could cause an issue is if he has an underlying kidney problem or you are giving extreme, massive doses. What we recommend is 50mg per day of Vitamin C. Hello. If you are sure your GP has a vitamin C deficiency, then you need to start Milo on a supplement. Most pet retailers will carry a number of appropriate supplements, but do start with an oral one rather than something that goes into the water. If Milo is really bad, your veterinarian can give a couple of vitamin c injections to jump start his recovery. You can but it is not recommended because some guinea pigs don't like the taste of the water with the Vitamin C in it so they end up not drinking and get sick. Hello. Great question! If you have Marshmallow on a high quality diet you should not need to feed any supplements/vitamins. The majority of the diet should be hay.
