My rabbit has arthritis and can't walk. What pain relief can help?

Sorry to hear about Chinti. There could be numerous causes for her sore leg ranging from a traumatic injury through to arthritis. It would be best to have a vet examine it to try and determine the exact cause, xrays may be needed. The vet can then treat accordingly likely with an antinflammatory painkiller. Her runny nose also needs addressed as it sounds like she has a respiratory infection which can be dangerous. Again best to see a vet as she will likely need antibiotics to treat it.

Poor Oreo! Unfortunately there aren't any OTC pain relievers you can give him. Many human ones are toxic to rabbits and can be fatal if given. The ones that are safe should only be used under strict vet supervision, and because I can't see him in person, it's illegal for me to recommend any of them. I would see if you can give your vet a call about his pain and discuss pain medication recommendation. If he does appear very painful, I would take him into an ER vet right away. This could be arthritis, a soft tissue injury (like a sprain), an infection, or even a broken bone. You could try to let her rest for a few days to see if it improves. If you are seeing no improvement that I would have your vet look at her. Your vet will be able to take X-rays if needed and prescribe pain meds to make her more comfortable.

There are medications that can help with the foot rot and arthritis. The foot rot is best treated with good hoof trimming and daily soaks. Unfortunately, we cannot (legally and ethically) advise medication without having an established patient-doctor relationship. It is also dangerous for us to advise medication without examining Dora and fully understanding her condition and medical history. If you suspect arthritis, then I highly recommend you schedule an appointment with your veterinarian. While you may highly suspect arthritis, the vet may find something that was not previously detected and the diagnosis and treatment could be completely different than what you suspect. Also, no medication is completely safe and it's possible that Dora could have an adverse reaction to the proposed medications, which could make things much worse than they were before. For these reasons, it's always best to only give medication as directed by your veterinarian. I hope that helps and Dora gets better soon.

I imagine poor Chopin is pain from the arthritis! The good news is that he could likely benefit from pain medication for it, which you can get from the vet. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. You can also give him joint supplements such as Dasuquin, which help with joint health. You can find it online. I'd make an appointment for this weekend or Monday to take Chopin into the vet to discuss using pain medications for his arthritis. I hope this helps!

That diet is excellent. However, the metabolic aspect of it is for dogs who need to lose weight. If Koko Rae is already in a good body condition, you can get the Science Diet j/d that is great for joints but does not have the metabolic component for weight loss. That diet alone can make a huge difference. Deramaxx is usually used on an as needed basis for pain control. You could also consider joint supplements such as Dasuquin and Cosequin. You can talk to your vet about therapy laser treatments if it is available in your area as these can help with pain and inflammation. You can also see about starting Adequan injections to help with the joints or further pain medication such as gabapentin or Tylenol 3 or 4 in extreme cases.
