Why is my rabbit shaking uncontrollably, not eating, and unsteady?

Rabbits get ear mites commonly and it's very difficult to see all the way into a rabbit ear canal without the proper equipment. Schedule an exam with your rabbit vet to have his ears examined with an otoscope. He may need to be sedated for this, and your vet may want to do an ear cytology as well. I have used topical Revolution very successfully to treat rabbits in the past if this is his issue. Also, ear mites are very contagious between bunnies!

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Twitching in bunnies is usually either due to pain, or can be due to seizures, or severe metabolic disturbances. I recommend that you take Bun Bun to a vet. It doesn't sound like something simple that can be easily fixed at home. One option is to get "Critical Care" food, and feed this with a syringe, however this won't help with pain, toxins, or seizures. Best of luck with Bun Bun.

Shaking all the time as in shivering or tremoring is not normal and may indicate Fitz is stress or there is something underlying. If moving him to a calm, quiet place doesn't resolve the issue, a vet visit to rule out any health problems is best.

Poor Thumper! Head tilts in rabbits are generally medical problems that need to be assessed and treated by a veterinarian. Often they are caused by an infection in the middle or inner ear that almost always require systemic antibiotics. Though here are occasionally other things that can cause these (tumors, abscesses, trauma, etc.) with Thumper being so young and you reporting no history of trauma they are lower on my list of differentials. I would get Thumper to his vet soon because the last thing you want is for him to start feeling badly, stop eating, and go into GI Stasis which can be life threatening. Hello, sorry to hear about Binky. There could be a variety of reasons why he is doing this. My biggest concern is that he could have an underlying heart disease or an upper respiratory infection. Binky should be evaluated by a veterinarian to make sure that he does not have the above conditions. He may require chest x-rays and bloodwork. Hope this helps and best of luck.

You rabbit might be suffering from gut stasis, a common condition in rabbits of all ages, you will need to take him to the vet ASAP in order to get it treated, if it is only a mild stasis, medical treatment should be successful.

At this point in time, she should be physically examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating rabbits. Pregnancy can be confirmed or ruled out by the vet. Any underlying cause of pain can also be diagnosed and treated. Supportive care can be administered as indicated.
