My mouse's body looks lumpy. Is it a tumor or other health issue?

Thank you for your question. If this bump is only on one side of the abdomen I would be concerned about a tumor or an abscess (pocket of infection). With a pregnancy we would expect a symmetrical swelling of the belly. I would recommend your friend take the mouse to a vet who sees pocket pets for an examination to better determine the cause of the enlargement.

Based on the location on the mass, and how fast it has come on, I would be concerned that it could be an infection, or potentially a tumor. I would recommend taking Tiny into a veterinarian. They can perform an examination, and can put a needle into the mass, remove some cells, and put the cells under the microscope for evaluation. Depending on what they find, they may have medications that they can prescribe (for example, antibiotics if it is an infection). First of all, Maizy looks more like a rat in the picture, unless she is an extremely large mouse. the lesions looks like a wound at the moment, but if it started as a lump it could be an abscess or a tumor. you will have to take her to an exotic vet specialist to get this checked and treated, if it is an infection she will need a course of antibiotics in order to heal properly.

A lump on the neck could be an enlarged lymph node, abscess or gland (thyroid). If your pet is weak, a veterinary visit ASAP is recommended. Small animals typically do not have much stored energy reserves, and by the time they appear sick, they have been ill for a period of time.
