My guinea pig's pee is white and milky. Should I be concerned?

Guinea pig urine, like rabbit and horse urine, is full of solutes and so can look really cloudy and be totally normal. This does not look concerning to me. The color and consistency of urine and feces in these creatures changes based on what they eat, so new treats or food can change how the urine looks. I would not worry at all. Hope that helps!

This can be normal. Calcium compounds in the urine cause this cloudiness. Without seeing them in person, however, I can't say for certain it's normal, so I would have them checked out by a vet to be safe. Best of luck.

This looks like she has blood in her urine and this can be caused by a UTI, or urinary stones in the bladder or kidneys. She needs to see a vet for this problem to get it diagnosed and treated. Hello there! Rabbit urine can be a rainbow of colors and still be normal. Rabbits excrete a large amount of minerals in their urine, like calcium, which can be whitish in color. Their urine also changes color based on what they eat - for example, a rabbit that eats a lot of carrot or sweet potato in a day will have dark orange colored urine. Milky white urine is probably nothing to worry about, but if Blacky is exhibiting any other symptoms (like anorexia or diarrhea), or you see any mucous-like substances or red streaking (potentially blood) in the urine, be sure to visit your vet right away. Your skinny pig is very cute, I love thes guys! The increased drinking can be a number of things from a urinary tract infection to a teeth problem! Guinea pigs can pass creamy urine from excess calcium in their urine from diet or from a uterine issue. She will need to see a vet and have them check and see what is going on. If you can get her to go pee on a flat, clean surface, you can take it in to your vet. It should be in the fridge until you take it in. Make sure she is is getting low calcium veggies (like Romaine, Endive, Escarole, Cilantro and bell peppers), no alfalfa hay and Adult GP pellets that are free of Alfalfa.

It sounds as though poor Coco has a urinary tract infection. This is typically caused by bacteria overgrowth and Coco will require antibiotic treatment. I would suggest contacting your local veterinarian that is skilled in treating guinea pigs to set up an appointment.

Some guinea pigs can have problems with a urinary infection and/or bladder stones that can cause their urine to look like as you described. This is not normal.
