Can my gerbil safely go out in the snow or cold winter weather?

You can use an exercise ball with s gerbil. Be sure to keep it away from stairs or ledges. You can also try a different wheel or exercise apparatus. There could be a personal preference. Make sure the cage is big enough for 2 gerbils to prevent stress or bullying.

I don't generally recommend to do this. Another animal could break into the cage and harm the hamster. The temperature may get too cold or too hot. It's best to keep it inside where it is safe and the temperature is controlled. I hope this helps.

i think they definitely need more protection from cold, winds and other extreme winter conditions, you should build or buy a proper housing for them if you want to keep them outside, depending on the temperatures in your area it might also require external heating.

Thanks for reaching out about your gerbil. There are definitely some leaves that could be toxic, but not many household vegetables are toxic. You should avoid any plants from the onion family (onions, leeks, etc.). If using outdoor plants, leaves from apple or fruit with pits (apricot, peach) can contain some cyanide and be toxic. It sounds like she needs to get to the vet as soon as possible to determine the cause of her symptoms, and if they are treatable. Depending on the cause, Nova could be in pain, so she should be seen ASAP. In the meantime, I suggest keeping Nova warm and separating her from any other gerbils you have to minimize stress.
