My ferret licked drain cleaner and is twitching. Does she need a vet?

Firstly, you should prevent him from drinking or licking up any more urine. A small amount will likely not harm him, but larger amounts may cause gastrointestinal upset (vomiting and diarrhea). Keep a bowl or bottle of fresh, clean water available to him at all times. If he becomes lethargic, stops eating or begins to vomit or have diarrhea then he should be examined by your veterinarian.

It sounds to me like Frankie may have a fur ball stuck in her throat or tummy. You can get a product called laxapet that helps to clear this. Alternatively it could be a dose of ferret flu so you may need to take her to the vet for an examination and to get treatment.

Poor Halo! Hopefully you've been able to get to the vet by now since I see this post is a bit older. If not, keeping her warm and happy and monitoring her for any changes in status (vomiting, retching, lethargy, pain, etc) is best. If she does suddenly act worse, or has very obvious signs of illness, getting her into a vet or emergency clinic sooner is best.

Hair dye contains ingredients that are toxic to ferrets, so I would be concerned about this. It depends on the type of product though. If you can post again with a picture and/or description of the product and ingredients, then we can get a better idea. If she is vomiting, or otherwise acting ill, then my best recommendation is to have her evaluated by a vet. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If the floor looked dry I am sure she is fine. I do not think she needs to see a vet. If you want to rinse her mouth out well with water as a precaution and wipe her paws well with water to prevent any more possible ingestion that isn't wrong. If she becomes lethargic, drools, won't eat or in anyway appears abnormal then bring her to the Vet. But based on your description I think she will be fine. Maybe have a discussion with your roommate about this so it won't happen again. I hope this helps!

I’d just watch her for now, and check her mouth to make sure there are no burns in it. If you see burns, take her into a vet immediately.
