My bunny is hurt, can't eat, and I can't get him to a vet. What to do?

Oh dear, I'm quite concerned about Poppy. I recommend taking him directly to a veterinarian. He may be quite ill and be too lethargic to move, or he may have injured his back - rabbits are very fragile and prone to back injuries. Be very careful lifting him and do your best not to move him around in case he does have an injury. Place him directly into a box or carrier with a towel in it so he doesn't slip around, and transport him to the nearest vet. Your vet will do an exam, and based on their findings may recommend bloodwork and/or x-rays to determine why he won't move or eat. I hope this helps, and I hope he feels better!

You could try syringing some water and mashed pellets into her mouth but be cautious as her ability to swallow may be affected also. Telephone your vets office immediately and there should be instructions as to how to access emergency veterinary care; intravenous fluids may be helpful if the injury is reversible. Be aware in rabbits that many spinal injuries are catastophic and euthanasia may be the most appropriiate option to relieve her pain if the condition cannot be reversed

I recommend that you take Bun Bun to a vet. It doesn't sound like something simple that can be easily fixed at home. One option is to get "Critical Care" food, and feed this with a syringe, however this won't help with pain, toxins, or seizures. Best of luck with Bun Bun.

A rabbit that is not eating normally should be considered a veterinary emergency. If the GI tract slows or stops, a dangerous buildup of bacteria and toxins could endanger Bun Bun's life. Given his age and weight loss, he needs to be seen by a veterinarian...any veterinarian. If necessary, a specialist can be contacted by phone or online by your vet. You need to get Milly to a vet. You must understand that not everything can be fixed at home. Her symptoms are very vague meaning that anything can cause them so it's impossible for us to offer advice without knowing the underlying problem. When you take on a pet it is your responsibility to get them care when they are sick. Dental issues are very common in rabbits so she may have a problem in her mouth making her not want to eat. She could have a virus. She could have a problem with any of her internal organs. I can't say. This is very concerning and your rabbit will need to see a vet today. Not eating for a herbivore such as a rabbit can cause its gut bacteria to starve and in turn you rabbit may die. He could also have an intestinal obstruction (usually caused by a hairball), or a tooth abscess. Gut bacteria can die quickly.
