Poor Oreo! Make sure you don’t have a cedar substrate - some Guinean pigs are allergic to this. My favorite substrate is carefresh. It look like cotton. Since he is coughing as well, I do worry about an upper respiratory infection. You will need to call the specific petco location that you are interested in going to as the prices may vary and you will need to be sure to make an appointment with a vet who is comfortable seeing guinea pigs. Thanks for reaching out about Sprou and including pictures. By the history and pictures, the most likely answer is a dermal (sebaceous) cyst. This condition is very common in middle aged guinea pigs. Keeping it clean as you did, is a good start. Clipping the hair around the edges to prevent further contamination is important. Ideally a veterinarian should be seen to have the cyst surgically removed, else it is likely to come back, over and over. Secondary infections of the open wound are also possible. Good luck.

Abscess means infection. Clover needs antibiotics and that is not something you can do at home. The longer you leave an infection in the body the worse it becomes. You need to what is best for him.
