Why has my wood turtle stopped eating and pooping for a month?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Turtle | Male | unneutered | 2 lbs

I have a 1 yo Central American Wood Turtle. He was eating fine and suddenly stopped. It looks like he hasn't eaten in a month and has had no poo either. Enclosure temp stays between 80-90 with 65% humidity. He seems fine when we let him out to exercise. We have tried every type of food according to research and nothing works. Looking for suggestions for eating habits remedy or possible health issues.

Thanks for reaching out about Marshall. Anorexia can be caused by many things including inappropriate husbandry/diet, metabolic disorders (liver, kidney), intestinal parasites or infection, just to name a few. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Check and correct husbandry parameters including temperature and UVB exposure.
Good luck.
