My snake has small bumps on its scales. Are they ticks or parasites?

You were correct in removing the ticks and disposing of them. Monitor Leo for more ticks. They can be a common pest (along with mites) in reptiles. Keep his enclosure clean to prevent reinfestation. Internal parasites would not present this way but external ones could. Have you checked under the scales for mites/ticks? The lumps could also be abscesses or fatty deposits. I suggest you get him to a reptile vet for an exam when you have time. I don't think it is an emergency.

Hello. Oh dear, those are a lot of ticks & I am VERY glad you are wearing gloves. I would get her in a tub with warm soapy water, preferably one labeled to kill fleas & ticks, but dish soap will work, & try & remove as many of the ticks as you can. The skin will bleed, but just try to get as many ticks off as you can. The soap will stun/kill the fleas, but the ticks can take days to die & fall off. It may take several baths to get all of the ticks. If you have access to any of the oral flea/tick products, give her one appropriate to her size. If all you can get are the topicals ( not sure what is sold in your country, but an Advantage or Frontline type product is great). Bathing shortly before or after applying a topical can diminish its effectiveness, but you should go ahead & apply anyway. If none of these are available, just use the soapy water & tweezers to remove the ticks, even if it takes a few days of bathing. They do look like seed ticks to me. They need to be removed. Get a small jar and pour a half inch of so of isopropyl alcohol in the bottom. If you have a set of fine tweezers or forceps, grasp the tick next to the skin and pull, being careful not to pinch your cat. If your cat isn't cooperative, you can dap a bit of petroleum jelly on the tick, which will block their pores so they can't breathe then they will back out after a while. You can also bathe your cat in a good flea and tick shampoo labeled for use on cats (Adams works well). Trim his claws first for your own safety and put a drop of mineral oil or a tiny strip of a non-medicated eye ointment (Artificial Tears is a good one) to keep the shampoo from stinging his eyes. Apply the shampoo generously, work it into a thick lather and let it stay on for at least ten minutes. You may need to use your fingernails to gently scrape the ticks loose from the skin, then rinse him thoroughly, making sure to remove all the shampoo from his coat. Towel dry very well and if he will tolerate it, use a blow dryer to dry him completely, using the warm, not hot setting.

Lice are very species specific and can be found moving around on the skin and fur. Ticks attach to the skin also and appear to be as small watts. Dead ticks should be easy to remove. Most topicals that treat for ticks will also cover you for lice so you should not worry about that. If you can post a picture of the spots in the skin or what you removed it may help get your more information.

Do you not have him on a tick prevention product? That is what I would use on him to make sure all the ticks are killed and then apply it monthly to keep killing any ticks he may pick up.
