This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria).
Swab the infected area with a diluted povidone-iodine solution twice daily with a cotton pad.

If this time of first line treatment does not help and you do not see any improvement in 48hours a check up at your local veterinarian would be required as antibiotic ointment and more aggressive treatment may be needed.

My lizard is bleeding and has pus from her anal area. What do I do?

Thanks for reaching out about Enola and including photos. The cloaca does appear infected but that might be a secondary problem. She also appears very thin. Diet and husbandry needs to be reviewed to provide an optimal healing environment. A fecal examination for parasites and bacteria should be performed at a veterinary office, as the pet store has zero medical knowledge and now one week has been wasted. A veterinary visit is necessary for proper diagnosis and treatment. Short (10-15 minute) warm water soaks can provide some transient comfort and might stimulate defecation. Systemic antibiotics (oral or injections) are probably required, no only topical. Good luck.

You can use a diluted betadine or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) solution daily to gently cleanse the affected area. Monitor for lethargy, decreased appetite, redness, swelling or discharge. See your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles if the wound doesn't heal or if any of the above mentioned symptoms develop.

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). I would recommend to monitor it for the moment to see if it spreads or resolve at all. Should it deteriorate (bigger, more spots or swollen), a check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) may be needed to solve the problem. In the meantime you can swab the infected area with a diluted povidone-iodine solution twice daily.

You can use a diluted Betadine or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) solution to clean the spot once or twice a day. Keep the area free from debris (substrate, food, droppings, etc.). It should heal on its own within a week or so. Monitor for lethargy, loss of appetite, redness or discharge. If it doesn't show signs of healing within a few days, consider an exam with your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles.
