My young leopard gecko is shedding often and seems lethargic. Normal?

You can soak him for 15-20 minutes in a warm bath to provide hydration as well as to aid in shedding. Do this 2 or three times weekly during a shed. Without an image or physical exam, it is difficult to determine if his coloration is due to illness or injury.

I am not quite sure what your question is. However, it is normal for reptiles to shed their skin as they grow. They will usually eat less during this period. It is likely he was stressed. Give him some time to settle down and he should be fine. Keep an eye on his feet and toes. If there is any discoloration, have him examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles.

It can be normal for a juvenile beardie to shed frequently. Monthly sheds are not unheard of up until one year of age. Soak him daily for 10 minutes in warm water or provide a moist hide to facilitate shedding. If he won't eat greens, you can try mixing in small meal worms, waxworms or hornworms in with greens. Right before they shed their color will appear darker. You will then see the skin start to flake off all around the body. Often, they will take the skin off in pieces and eat it. Other times they may wait until it falls off. It does not appear like Tiki is shedding right now in the pictures shown. I hope that helps.

This should be worrisome. Is he still eating/maintaining weight? Check and correct the temperature to provide POTZ (preferred optical temperature zone). If remains lethargic, not eating, a veterinary visit is recommended. Intestinal parasites,kidney disease, gastrointestinal obstructions from ingestion of substrate, are all common problems. Good luck.
