My bearded dragon has crusty eyes, isn't eating, and isn't growing.

Thank you for reaching out about Charizard, and for including photos - they are very helpful. I wanted to verify that this is the same eye? The reason I ask is that the second photo looks like one is of the right eye and one is of the left eye (unless you inverted the image when posting). Based on the darker appearance of the material and the sagging of the area, it makes me suspicious that there may be an issue with some retained shed skin, or there could be an issue with the eyelids themselves. This should be evaluated by a veterinarian as they will be able to look at the area with some magnification, which may help to determine exactly what the problem is in the area. Due to the decrease in appetite, they can also provide a husbandry evaluation. I would use caution with trying to treat this at home, as due to Charizard's small size, it would be easy to accidentally traumatize the eye. Check the humidity level. For beardies, it should range between 30 and 40%. Too high or too low can predispose Jank to infection or shedding complications. If a 20-30 minute warm compress doesn't help, have him examined by your veterinarian or experienced herp vet. A physical exam may diagnose or rule out abscess/infection or tumor. In either case, you'll need a vet to dispense medication or to pursue additional diagnostics (blood work, biopsy, aspirate, etc).

You can even increase tank temps by 5-10 degrees F to aid in recovery. Soak Falcor daily in a warm 50/50 solution of water and unflavored PediaLyte for 15-20 minutes. This will provide hydration. You can supplement him with Fluker's Repta-Boost. Find it in the local Petco or online. Keep his eyes clean by rinsing with sterile saline and a soft cloth. He may need different antibiotics and to have the affected area cleaned and flushed. It is never recommended to allow an ill dragon to brumate. Increasing the photo-period along with the increase in temp may bring him out of brumation, but his lethargy is more likely due to illness.

Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites. Monitor Drogon for difficulty breathing, blowing bubbles, lethargy, or odd sounds while breathing. These are symptoms of an upper respiratory infection. Parasites or URI may cause the condition you are seeing. Bump cage temps up by about 5F for a few days. Soak him in a warm 50/50 solution of water and unflavored PediaLyte twice daily for 15-20 minutes. Make sure the UVB light source is not older than 6 months and use quality vitamin and mineral supplements. If Drogon gets worse or does not begin eating soon, have him examined by an experienced herp veterinarian.

I would highly recommend taking Josie to a vet for a better exam. My concerned would be an upper respiratory infection or sinusitis (inflammation of the sinuses). In reptiles when they have congestion in the sinus region the eyes will become infected as well. I would recommend hand feeding to make sure Josie is getting proper nutrition. Josie will most likely need antibiotics to improve

Thanks for reaching out about Logi. Poor growth can be related to improper environment (low heat), poor nutrition (lack of protein, minerals, vitamins) and metabolic conditions. Check the husbandry conditions first, environmental temperatures at 80-90 degrees, exposure to ultraviolet radiation. The diet should consist of live, well fed insects that are gut loaded. Offering chopped vegetables is also important. If these are all correct, a visit to a reptile veterinarian is recommended, at least to perform a fecal examination to rule in/rule out intestinal parasites. Additional diagnostics might be needed if this proves non-diagnostic. Good luck.
