My bearded dragon's chapped lips won't go away. Should I see a vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Hi I have a bearded dragon and it looks to have some sort of chapped lips and it will not go away, we've tried honey and fruits that are juicy, and we put her in so warm water everyday and she loves to swim! But it won't go away

From the pictures it appears to be an infection. This infection could be bacterial or fungal. It is possible she had trauma to hip lip that started it. I would recommend taking her to a veterinarian because she will need medications to clear it up.

To me this looks more like a sore. Of course I can't say for sure without doing an exam myself. Sores like this can come from bacterial or fungal infections. If it starts to spread it could be very difficult to heal. I would contact your vet for an exam so they can determine the cause and start Joey on the appropriate medication. I hope this helps!
